North West Australia

Indigenous ranger teams in remote North West Australia play a pivotal role in protecting fragile ecosystems. And because caring for country is so central to Indigenous culture, those rangers also have a fundamental role to play in the health and vitality of their communities.

We are incredibly proud to support women rangers from the Kimberley, Arnhem Land and Western Desert regions who are soon to unite in a unique collaboration. In 2021 women from these three cultural blocks will come together in what will be the largest geographic region ever assembled.

Together they will design the kind of future they want for themselves, their communities, and the land they protect.

A documentary film will create a platform for the women to tell their own stories, in their own voices – then amplify those voices in a way that has never been possible before. The impact will elevate them as leaders in their own eyes, and the eyes of their communities and an outside world that can be hard to reach.

This project is a collaboration between our own organisation, Thin Green Line and the Kimberly Land Council. It is supported by a small group of generous businesses and individuals who are passionate about the health of our wild places and the indigenous communities who care for them.
